- 2 lbs ground beef
- 1 large chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 can (15 oz) pinto beans
- 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans
- 2 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- Salt and pepper to taste
In a large Dutch oven, you brown the ground beef over medium-high heat. Now break it up into the smaller pieces as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
Add the beef broth, tomato sauce, and all the spices to the pot. Mix well to combine.
You bring the mixture to a boil. Then you reducethe heat to low. Let the chili simmer uncovered for about 1 to 2 hours,stirring occasionally. The longer ground beef simmers, the more flavors will develop.
Taste the chili and you adjust the seasoning asneeded. Now add more pepper, salt, or spices according to your preference.
To serve, place a serving of cooked spaghetti on a plate. Ladle the chiliover the spaghetti.
Add your desired toppings: shredded cheddar cheese, chopped onions, kidney beans (if using), and oyster crackers.
